To improve the experience of the users, the country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio is now preparing to launch AI voice assistant. Addressing shareholders at the 49th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries, Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash Ambani said, Jio is introducing a new AI voice assistant named ‘Jio Call Agent’. This voice assistant of Jio can join during the call and convert your conversation into text. Apart from this, this AI assistant of Jio can also do tasks like booking a cab or ordering food for you. One thing is clear from this step of the company that Jio is increasing AI services in the customer network.
You will not have to download the app separately
‘Jio Call Agent’ is expected to be launched later this year. It will be directly connected to the company’s telecom network, so that users will not need to download any separate app. This service will be available to more than 50 crore subscribers of Jio and it will also have support for Indian languages. With this, the scope of AI powered service will expand beyond just English speaking users to more people.
Users can engage the Assistant during a call by saying Hey Jio, provided others agree to its presence. This Jio service has been introduced as a personal AI assistant that works during regular voice calls, instead of a separate chatbot.
According to Akash Ambani, this assistant can transcribe calls in real-time and can identify up to 10 different speakers during a conference call. It can summarize the conversation, extract important points and create reminders, which can be shared with other people after the conversation.
This product has been designed in such a way that transactions can be done even during calls. For example, users can ask the Assistant to order food, reserve a table at a restaurant, book a cab, or schedule a meeting without having to hang up the call. This assistant of Jio is not like other AI assistants which require any specific apps, subscription or compatible device, Jio’s call agent will work at the network level.
