Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Australia, where he addressed 30 thousand Indians in the Melbourne Meets Modi program. During this, he said, ‘When I came here for the first time in 2014, it was the first time in 28 years that an Indian Prime Minister had come here. I had said then that next time you will not have to wait 28 years. This is my third visit here in the last 12 years. This is a hat-trick. This shows that India-Australia relations have strengthened. The most important role in this has not been mine, but that of all of you i.e. NRIs.
He said, ‘We have been together in both Ahmedabad, which has the world’s largest cricket ground, and Melbourne, which has a famous stadium. We all have seen that when Prime Minister Albanese speaks, he captures the hearts and minds of Indians. You created a sensation in Sydney and here too you have mesmerized everyone.
Indian community made Melbourne more vibrant
PM Modi further said, ‘In the city of Melbourne, a glimpse of all four seasons can be seen in a single day, but the Indian community has made it even more vibrant with the colors of its culture. There are many places and markets in and around Melbourne which are drenched in the colors of Indianness. Some people call it ‘Little India’, some call it ‘Mini India’…whatever the name, the color of Indianness is mixed everywhere here. There are many people here who live in at least two time zones. When children return home from school according to Australian time, people in India are already waiting for them to come on video call. Even though the distance may be thousands of kilometers, their everyday life is still connected to India.
Indian tea made from Australian milk
The PM said, ‘We Indians like to spread love. You may have Australian milk in your home, but the tea made from it is Indian. There is a new trend of bhajan clubbing in India these days, it is being driven by our Gen Z and here in Australia I have heard that your weekends are full of faith and spirituality. Somewhere in someone’s house the story of Lord Satyanarayan is being narrated, somewhere in Gurudwara there is Ardaas, somewhere there is presentation of Bhangra or Bharatanatyam by children, somewhere there is a cricket tournament going on. Now the Indian Film Festival has also come here, after a few days the Indian Film Festival is going to start here in Melbourne, I wish it a successful event from now on.
India is working towards becoming a developed country
Regarding India’s economy, PM Modi said that ‘India of the 21st century is working towards becoming a developed country. When we fulfill a dream, new dreams take its place. We are a country with aspirations of 140 crore people. We are the fastest growing economy and want to become the third largest economy in the world as soon as possible, because our motivation is – go further, achieve more.
India will build its own space station
Addressing the Indians, he further said, ‘You all are increasing the growth of Australia with your hard work, but I know that one of your eyes is always fixed on India. What is India doing, India’s progress, India’s speed, you keep looking for news and updates about these. You all know that Chandrayaan has landed on the south pole of the Moon. Apart from India, no other country in the world has been able to do this, but India is not satisfied with just this. Now India will send Gaganyaan and we are working on the goal of building our own space station.
What did PM Modi say on Operation Sindoor?
Regarding ‘Make in India’ and Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said that ‘Make in India has become a global brand in the last 12 years. Our mobile phones and vehicles have reached markets all over the world. The world is watching the capability and credibility of our defense sector. You must have seen the demonstration of Operation Sindoor. There were explosions at terrorist hideouts and their echo was heard all over the world.
‘When India helps, it does not look at the passport’
Regarding the Venezuela earthquake, the PM said, ‘Just last month, such a huge earthquake tragedy occurred in Venezuela, such huge destruction took place, hundreds of people lost their lives. We did not see the distance, India considered Venezuela’s pain as its own pain. India launched relief and rescue operations and sent help as fast as it could. When India helps, it does not look at the passport, does not look at the color of the passport. That’s why the world also trusts India so much.
