As the political turmoil intensifies just before the Panchayat and civic elections in Rajasthan, the factionalism of Congress has come to the fore. On Thursday, former minister Mahendrajit Singh joined Congress along with more than 300 workers associated with Malviya’s Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP). This joining took place at the Civil Lines residence of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and due to this, Congress State President Govind Dotasara is enraged and has raised questions on the joining.
former chief minister Ashok Gehlot Welcomed Mahendrajit Singh Malviya’s return to Congress through a Facebook post. He said that Malviya had left the party due to some misunderstanding, but has now returned to the Congress family. Gehlot said that during his tenure, many development works including irrigation, education, roads and Anicut were done in the area and Congress left no stone unturned in development.
Gehlot said that the workers who returned with Malviya wanted to meet him and later also meet State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara. For this reason, a time has been fixed to meet him in PCC.

He said that Malviya and his supporters believe that he has worked with Congress all his life and Congress always stood by him in difficult times. Gehlot said that during famine and drought, schemes like MNREGA provided great support to the tribal areas. He said that under the MNREGA scheme launched by Sonia Gandhi and the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, at one time three lakh laborers each got employment in districts like Dungarpur and Banswara.
Gehlot said that the meeting was positive and he is hopeful that more and more people associated with Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) will come back to Congress. He claimed that he is not getting the expected political benefits from the formation of BAP, rather it is causing loss to Congress and benefit to BJP. According to him, BAP contesting elections creates a triangular contest, which directly benefits BJP.
Dotasara got angry on joining
On the other hand, Congress state president Govind Dotasara got angry at Gehlot over the joining of party workers at Ashok Gehlot’s residence. They said that Only those who practice individualism have defeated Congress in the first place. Malviya had to see whether the Congress party was bigger or the leader. I run the organization. Now later, even if Malviya workers come to the party office with them, they are welcome, but they had to see where to come first to join?
Dotasara said that this is why Malviya lost the elections last time and is standing behind me, even though he is a bigger leader than me. Individualism could not win them over. I had said at that time that Malaviya would lose and it happened. However, Dotasara later defended himself and said that Gehlot was only welcomed here.
At the same time, Mahendrajit Singh Malviya said that I along with BAP workers first met former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Gehlot made all the workers wear Congress scarf and made them join Congress. On the question of not joining Congress in PCC, Malviya said that there is no big deal in it. When he was asked the question that the tradition is that joining takes place only in PCC, he said that there is no big deal in it.
