Suman Kalyanpur started his career from Marathi cinema. In the year 1853, he sang his first song in Shukrachi Chandni. In Hindi films, he spread the magic of his voice in the film Darwaza, in this film he sang 4 songs. He has also won many awards in his name for his excellent singing.

He has made invaluable contribution in the field of music, for which he has been awarded many awards including the Gadima Award of the Gadima Foundation and the Padma Bhushan Award of the Government of India.
