Yogi Adityanath: How different is Yogi Adityanath from a normal politician, above party sentiments?

June 18, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Rivalry in politics has its own grammar and no politician shies away from attacking his opponent. This is natural because every party has its own ideology, election strategies and the public evaluates them on the basis of this. But, when a ruler crosses party boundaries and stands for the overall interest of the society, then he starts appearing special in politics. He starts appearing as a ruler following Rajdharma.

At a time when the political culture is beginning to deteriorate, where statements are being made by considering the leader of the opposition party as the enemy and even the family is being targeted, the people of Uttar Pradesh are Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Following Rajdharma and presenting the ideal of politics, he appears above an ordinary politician.

Daughter is everyone’s daughter – When Yogi said

When some people spread misleading and objectionable material on social media regarding the daughter of former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, CM Yogi not only took it seriously and directed to register a case, but also gave a clear message to such people during the meeting in Azamgarh – no derogatory comment against the daughter is acceptable. A daughter is a daughter. We have grown up in those values where the daughter of the village is everyone’s daughter, the sister of the entire village. Such resolutions reflect the cultured social awareness of the Chief Minister.

The definition of rivalry in politics includes methods of weakening the opponent, ignoring his base areas and attacking him by digging up dead bodies from his past etc. These methods become even more aggressive in social media, in which the distortion of involving the families of politicians has also started becoming visible. This is the erosion of political culture over which every conscious person in the society should be concerned.

ideal of political conduct

In such a situation, the step taken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the comments made by Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav about his daughter is an ideal of political conduct in which the message lies that power should not be used only to protect the interests of one’s party but should be for equality. In a democracy, differences of opinion are possible, disputes are possible, heated debates are also acceptable but there should not be any violation of individual dignity and there should not be any discrimination of minds.

Big change seen in Azamgarh also

This ideological maturity appears deeper and broader in the Yogi government. Let us only talk about the ongoing development works in Uttar Pradesh. An unwritten and partisan rule was being followed in the politics of the state for decades, development happens only where the MLAs are in power. No order was issued regarding this system but the leaders, officials and even the public knew about it. This step-brotherhood of power was broken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Take the example of Azamgarh, where there were roots of terrorism, there was burden of backwardness, there was dominance of criminals, change took place there due to the priority of Yogi government. Politically, SP has dominated in Azamgarh. First there was the influence of Mulayam Singh Yadav and then Akhilesh Yadav. Even at present there is neither any BJP MLA nor MP here. The Chief Minister did not adopt the path of political vendetta and Azamgarh did not get Purvanchal Expressway, University, Airport, Music College etc.

Rampur and Mainpuri are also important examples

Yogi believes that development should not be weighed on the scales of votes. Rampur embodies his concept. For years, Rampur remained a political fort, where the will of a leader was the law. Central and state schemes were also dependent on the grace of the said leader. When the fortifications there were broken, development also took place in an inclusive spirit. Mainpuri can also be kept in this series which is the emotional heartbeat of SP. Government schemes made their way there too. Water from Jal Jeevan Mission also reached the kitchens of those houses on whose doors the Samajwadi Party flag was flying.

This also focused on the policy of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. SP won many seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections but the Yogi government did not show a narrow mindedness and continuous development work continued there too. Bundelkhand, which has been suffering the brunt of migration and drought for centuries, may not have been an impenetrable stronghold of any one party, but it also got the gift of Bundelkhand Expressway in the Yogi government. Not seeing development in terms of votes is the real identity of democratic maturity. There should be similar moral courage in power.

governance should be fair

It would not be appropriate to claim complete disinterestedness in politics, but it must be considered that which ruler is working for votes and who is doing good work only because he considers it his religion. When a ruler takes effective steps by associating himself with the identity of his political opponent’s daughter, it highlights the purity of his conscience. From the Preamble of the Indian Constitution to its articles, the feeling everywhere is that the protection of the state and its resources cannot be for any one class, caste, party or region.

Governance should be fair. Working above party sentiments is a cultural intervention in the politics of Uttar Pradesh and challenges the mentality which believes that politics has no dignity and morality. People will forget the indecent remarks made by SP President Akhilesh Yadav towards his daughter tomorrow, but one thing will definitely be remembered that a Chief Minister in the form of Yogi ji had set an example that power is not the enemy of humanity. When this realization comes to all political parties, the real form of democracy will appear more golden.
