
A new era of mobile technology is about to begin in India. Khushtek Korea has claimed that it has developed the world’s first D2M feature phone, which is being manufactured in India. The biggest feature of this phone is that it can watch free live TV channels without internet or Wi-Fi. An in-built antenna is also provided in the phone to catch TV signals. The company believes that this technology can completely change the feature phone market.
Live TV will work without internet
The biggest identity of this phone is its D2M i.e. Direct-to-Mobile technology. ATSC 3.0 technology has been used in it, with the help of which users can watch live TV and free channels directly without mobile data, internet or Wi-Fi. For better signal reception, the phone also has an in-built protruding antenna. The company claims that this technology can prove useful even in areas where internet connectivity is weak. D2M technology is being considered as the broadcasting technology of the future and continuous testing is being done for its use in India.
Many important specifications will be available in feature phones
This D2M feature phone from Khushtek Korea has a 2.4 inch QVGA TFT display, whose resolution is 320×240 pixels. The front of the phone is made of glass, while the frame and back panel are plastic. Its weight is said to be around 220 grams. This device supports 2G and 4G LTE networks, although it will not have 5G connectivity. The facility to install two nano SIMs in the phone is provided. It runs not on Google Android but on ThreadX operating system and has Unisoc UMS9117-L processor. It also has 64 MB RAM and 128 MB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card.
Equipped with camera, battery and digital features
A 0.3 megapixel camera is provided at the back of the phone, with which the facility of torch is also available. For audio, it has a 0.8W mono speaker and 3.5mm earphone jack. The phone has a removable battery of 1800mAh, which can also be changed if needed. USB Type-C port is provided for charging, which supports 2.5W charging. Bluetooth 5.0 and FM radio is also available for wireless connectivity. According to the company, essential apps related to calling, live TV, data usage and digital payments will be available pre-installed. Currently this phone is in the production stage and can be launched in the market soon. According to reports, companies like Lava and Nokia are also working on feature phones with D2M technology.
