The rule of ‘Impact Player’ in IPL has been the subject of much discussion and controversy. Teams often benefit from this. But there is no such rule in international cricket. Still, in every team some player plays the role of an ‘impact player’, who changes the course of the match by being in the playing-11. Or someone who gets a chance in a match with great difficulty and shows his talent in it. Fast bowler Renuka Singh proved to be an impact player for Team India in a match of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Renuka did wonders at the very first opportunity.
After the heart-breaking defeat at the hands of South Africa in the World Cup group stage match, Team India took the field against Bangladesh in its fourth match. For this match, the Indian team made 2 changes in the playing-11. Under these changes, Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav were given a chance in the playing-11, while Arundhati Reddy and Prema Rawat were shown the way out. It did not take much time to see the effect of this decision.
Team India was bowling first in this match and needed a good start and this responsibility was played by right arm medium pacer Renuka. Renuka, who sat out the last three matches of this World Cup, was looking for an opportunity and she did not let it slip away. Renuka, who came to bowl in the second over of the innings, did not have a very good start and she bowled wide 3 times in this over. But even this did not deter his courage and he gave the first blow to Bangladesh by dismissing opener Dilara Aktar on the sixth ball of the over.
Good news for Renuka’s return team
Renuka, who was going through poor form for some time, had lost her place in the playing-11. But the fast bowlers who got opportunities in their place also could not do anything special. This was the reason why it was very important for Renuka to be successful. This is because out of the total 24 wickets taken by the Indian team in the last three matches of the tournament, only 2 wickets were taken by the fast bowlers (both Nandini Sharma), while 21 wickets were taken by the spinners. Even in these two, no success was achieved in the initial overs. In such a situation, Renuka proved herself by taking a wicket in just 6 balls and also brought relief to the team.
