Australia has once again made it to the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The Australian team, which had lost in the semi-finals of the last World Cup, defeated West Indies in a one-sided match in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026. Australia, captained by Sophie Molineau, achieved the target of 126 runs in just 13 overs in the match played at the Oval in London and won by 8 wickets. With this, Australia secured its place in the final of this tournament for the record eighth time with its sixth consecutive win.
The Australian women’s team, which has won the T20 World Cup title the maximum number of times, was eliminated in the semi-finals of this tournament last time. This was only the second time in the last 9 editions of the tournament that Australia could not reach the final. But in the 10th T20 World Cup, once again the Australian team returned in its champion style and made it to the title match. This victory was also special for Australia because it took revenge for the defeat suffered by West Indies in the 2016 final 10 years ago.
