
Delhi government is preparing to launch the much awaited Mahila Samridhi Yojana on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan to provide financial assistance to economically weaker women. According to sources, this scheme can be formally launched on August 28. Under the scheme, eligible women will be sent ₹ 2500 directly into their bank accounts every month. It is being told that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can start this scheme, although it has not been officially announced yet.
According to the information, Delhi Government has almost completed all the necessary preparations for this scheme. The online registration portal is ready and the eligibility criteria have also been decided. A provision of ₹ 5110 crore has been made for this scheme in the budget for the financial year 2026-27. It is estimated that 20 to 22 lakh women of Delhi will get the benefit of this scheme.
Preparation to implement the plan
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has already made it clear that the government wants to implement the scheme with full preparation, so that its benefits reach all the eligible women without any hindrance and the scheme continues to run smoothly in the future also. Now the government is preparing to launch this scheme for women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Who will be able to avail the benefits of the scheme?
Only economically weaker women of Delhi will get the benefit of Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. The main eligibility criteria prescribed for this are as follows.
- The age of the applicant woman should be between 21 to 60 years.
- The annual income of the family should be between ₹ 2.50 lakh to ₹ 3 lakh.
- It will be necessary to be a permanent resident of Delhi.
- Preference will be given to women holding ration cards.
Which women will not get the benefit?
The government has kept certain categories of women out of the scheme. This means that these women will not be able to get the benefit of this government scheme.
- Women working in government jobs.
- Women paying income tax.
- Women receiving government pension.
- Women owners of four wheelers.
