Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the US, calling it the ‘Great Satan’ and declared that US President Donald Trump’s signature on the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is ‘completely worthless’. Khamenei also warned that if Washington continues its military attacks on Iran, Iran and its ‘Resistance Front’ are ready to teach it an unforgettable lesson.
In a message to the Iranian nation, Khamenei accused the US of repeatedly violating agreements with Iran and said that once again Washington’s dishonesty, irrationality, unreliability and malicious nature have been exposed. Khamenei said that the US’s repeated violations of the agreement regarding the MOU signed by the presidents of Iran and the US have again brought to the fore a fundamental truth.
US President’s signature is completely useless
He said that the signature of the US President is completely worthless and devoid of credibility. Coercion, dictatorship, and cruelty are integral parts of American ideology and doctrine. The Iranian leader further alleged that America has shown its true, exposed face through its actions and described these actions as yet another example of crimes and broken promises.
‘America will have to pay a heavy price’
Referring to the ongoing tension with Washington, Khamenei warned that if America escalates the tension further, it will have to pay a heavy price. He said that now when the American enemy is trying to further escalate the conflict, which will cause it even more heavy losses and humiliation, it should know that the great people of Iran and the ‘Resistance Front’ have such lessons for it, which it will never forget.
Iran’s resolve to face enemies
Khamenei also praised the bravery of Islamic fighters and respected the courageous people of the southern regions, which have been hardest hit during the recent tensions, calling them examples of Iran’s resolve to confront its enemies. Calling for national unity, Iran’s supreme leader urged citizens and government officials to defend the country’s dignity and independence, especially against the insidious and criminal enemy America.
Tension increased between Iran and America
He also appealed to the Iranian people to continue supporting the country’s institutions and at the same time remain vigilant in protecting the country’s interests. His statements have come at a time when tension between Iran and America has increased. This tension has increased after the failure of the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed last month, the purpose of which was to end the enmity between the two sides and open the way for further talks.
Conflict resumes in West Asia
Due to the failure of this agreement, conflict has started again in West Asia. The US has attacked Iranian military and civilian targets, and in response the Islamic Republic has also targeted US targets in the Gulf region.
