During an interview with PTI, Jairam Ramesh said that all the leaders who left Congress and joined BJP, especially the youth leaders, should never be taken back into the party. He said that it would be shameful to even think about taking back such people. However, he also clarified that this is his personal opinion.
These young leaders took revenge
In fact, in the last 12 years, many young leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasad and Milind Deora left Congress and joined BJP. When Ramesh was asked whether Congress would consider his return in future, he said that such leaders should never be included in the party again.
‘It’s shameful to even think about returning’
The Congress leader said, ‘I am not talking about any particular person, but for all those who have left the party after enjoying the luxuries of power and position, after taking advantage of the party, it would be shameful for us to even consider calling them back, but Indian politics is Indian politics.’
‘Went to party against ideology’
He said that the last 12 years have proved which leader stood firmly with the ideology and who did not. According to Ramesh, today in Congress there are only those people who are committed to the ideology of the party. Although during this time he did not take whose name, but it is believed that his reference was towards many young leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasad and Milind Deora.
He said it is unfortunate that those people, especially the youth, who enjoyed position, enjoyed power, held important positions in the party organisation, have decided to leave the party and go to a party which is ideologically completely opposite to the Congress. He said that my opinion is that such people should not be taken back. Although this is my personal opinion.
Was close to Rahul Gandhi
This statement of Jairam Ramesh has brought about those leaders who were once seen as the leadership of the next generation of Congress. These include names like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasad and Milind Deora. These leaders were considered close to the Gandhi family and former party president Rahul Gandhi. But all these leaders joined BJP at different times. After joining BJP, these leaders also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while some of them targeted the leadership of their own former party.
Ramesh said that it is unfortunate that the youth leaders left the party, because they had got important responsibilities and opportunities in the organization. Despite this, he chose the path of a party whose ideology is completely different from that of Congress.
