On one hand, people are believing that AI will eliminate millions of jobs in the coming time, while on the other hand, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos believes that AI will not replace humans, but can create a shortage of employees. He said that AI will enhance the capabilities of people and open doors to new opportunities.
AI will not make humans useless
Speaking at the VivaTech technology conference in Paris, Bezos said that many people are worried that AI will make humans unnecessary. However, he does not agree with this thinking. According to him, the real work of AI is to make people more capable, so that they can solve more problems and start new tasks.
Bezos said that there are countless tasks and ideas in the world on which people are unable to work simply due to time, resources or technical limitations. AI will reduce these barriers and help people explore new possibilities.
Why may the demand for employees increase?
Jeff Bezos believes that the needs and ambitions of humans never end. When AI increases people’s productivity, they will be able to work on more projects and new industries will develop. This will create new employment opportunities and demand for employees may increase in many sectors.
He said that AI will help in solving those problems, which are not being given enough attention right now. In such a situation, economic activities will increase and new types of jobs will emerge.
Concerns are increasing about AI
However, the increasing use of AI has also increased concerns about jobs. In a recently released survey, almost half of American citizens feared that AI could affect their or their family member’s job.
Many companies are adopting AI based systems to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Many big tech companies including Amazon have laid off thousands of employees in the last few years.
Bezos is optimistic about the future
Bezos believes that the impact of AI will be like big technological revolutions like the Industrial Revolution. The changes may seem challenging at first, but in the long run this technology will create new industries, new jobs and opportunities for economic growth. According to him, AI will not prove to be a substitute for humans, but a powerful tool to enhance their capabilities.
