Assembly elections are to be held in Uttar Pradesh early next year. But the political atmosphere has already started getting heated. The effort to set political equations has intensified. Now murmurs of formation of a third front have started. MP Chandrashekhar is going to meet once again with former state minister Swami Prasad Maurya. In such a situation, discussion has started regarding the third front in the state.
MP Chandrashekhar, who came to meet the family of deceased Mewalal at Salon in Rae Bareli, said on meeting Swami Prasad Maurya, “Today I will meet Swami Prasad again. However, his health is bad.” Even 3 weeks ago, Azad Samaj Party’s national president and MP Chandrashekhar Azad had met his Janata Party (AJP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya in Lucknow.
Why is there speculation about third front in UP?
After this meeting of the two leaders, speculations are increasing about the formation of a new third front with the aim of targeting the Dalit, Muslim and OBC vote bank in the state.
Swami Prasad, who was once close to Mayawati, has been the Cabinet Minister of Uttar Pradesh while Chandrashekhar is an MP from Nagina Lok Sabha seat of UP.
After the meeting between the two leaders, speculations have started about a new political alliance with small parties in the state. It is also being said that AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi can also be taken along for the third front.
‘Alliance with anyone to defeat BJP’
On the question of alliance before the elections, MP Chandshekhar said, “Our party can form an alliance with any party to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).”
Chandrashekhar also targeted the controversy over the Ram temple issue in Ayodhya. He said, “I am not satisfied with the SIT’s investigation in the donation theft case. The SIT is under the state government and cannot investigate properly. If my government is formed, I will account for every single rupee.” He also expressed confidence in the CBI investigation supervised by the Chief Justice.
Swami Prasad Maurya comes from Other Backward Class (OBC) and is counted as a big leader of this class. Before forming his own party, he was in all the major parties like Lok Dal, Janata Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party. Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party (RSSP) was established about 2 years ago in 2024. However, after some time he changed the name of the party and changed his name to Janata Party (AJP).
