Lahiru Udara, WI vs SL 2nd Test: A 2-match test series is being played between the teams of West Indies and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka had a one-sided defeat in the first match of this series. But in the second match the Sri Lankan team managed to make a strong start. Lahiru Udara, who returned to the Sri Lankan team after one year, played an amazing innings. Due to which, by the end of the first day’s play at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Sri Lanka had scored a strong score of 338 runs after losing 5 wickets in its first innings.

Lahiru Udara scored a century on his return

After suffering a crushing defeat by an innings and 17 runs in the first Test, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first in this match. However, the start was not good and West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph gave the initial blow by sending Nishan Madushka and Dinesh Chandimal to the pavilion cheaply, due to which Sri Lanka’s score became 2 wickets for 25 runs. After this Lahiru Udara took charge of the team. Udara faced 248 balls and scored 188 runs, which is also the first century of his Test career.

This memorable inning of Lahiru Udara included 21 fours and 5 skyscraper sixes. During this, he completed the first century of his career in only his third Test match by hitting a six off Jaden Seals. Just as Udara was heading towards his double century, a few minutes before the end of the day’s play, he was caught out by Shamar Joseph at the fine-leg boundary after playing a wrong hook shot off Alzarri Joseph.

Record partnership with Kamindu Mendis

After the initial setbacks, Udara got excellent support from in-form batsman Kamindu Mendis. There was a huge and dominating partnership of 215 runs between the two for the third wicket. This is Sri Lanka’s second highest partnership for any wicket in Test history against the West Indies. Mendis scored 84 runs in 120 balls with the help of 11 fours, after which he was dismissed by wicketkeeper Shai Hope with a brilliant leg-side stumping off the bowling of all-rounder Justin Greaves.
