Why lathicharge instead of listening to demands… Arvind Kejriwal’s questions regarding youth protest at Jantar Mantar

July 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has given a strong reaction to the lathi charge on the youth who were protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding reforms in the education and examination system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He said that lakhs of youth of the country have gathered at Jantar Mantar.

He said that instead of listening to them, the government is lathi-charging them. This is not right. I appeal to the government that these are the children of our own country who have taken to the streets to demand justice. Prime Minister, leave your ego and listen to them. Manage the anger of these youth. These youth will not tolerate your arrogance at all.

The entire Connaught Place was also filled.

AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who was on Punjab tour, said how many people have gathered in Delhi. The entire Connaught Place is filled, Janpath is filled and Jantar Mantar is also filled. Thousands and lakhs of youth have come from all over the country and the government is using its full power of repression on them. The police is lathi-charging them and beating them. Internet has been shut down there and youth are being prevented from going to Parliament. This is absolutely wrong, where should the youth go?

Arvind Kejriwal further said that first the government leaks their papers, then when the paper is re-conducted, there is a complete mess in its evaluation. Children complain after complaint, but they are not heard. After all, where should the children go, the government has ruined their future. Now when they come out on the streets to demand justice, they are lathicharged. This is not right at all and there is a lot of anger among children about this.

There are 14-hour sittings

At the same time, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that there are many children who think that the book will change my life and the future of my family and I will read the book. Children set an alarm for 3 in the morning and sit down to study. They have 14-14 hours of sitting, only then they prepare for NEET exam.

But a day or two before the exam it is found that the paper has been leaked. Big rich people have bought the paper and now only their children will come forward. This is simply not true. I fully support the protest going on by our students at Jantar Mantar. We are with all the students.
