Why could Rahul not complete his speech in Lok Sabha, why was the ruling party adamant on apology?

July 29, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The anti-paper leak bill was being discussed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, in which opposition leader Rahul Gandhi was speaking. However, there was an uproar in the House over the choice of some words in his speech regarding the Home Minister, due to which Rahul could not complete his speech. Not only this, due to the uproar the proceedings of the House also had to be adjourned twice. However, later after opposition from the ruling party, the controversial words of Rahul Gandhi’s statement were removed from the proceedings of the House. Despite this, the ruling party remained adamant on Rahul Gandhi’s apology.

After the uproar and adjournment in the Lok Sabha over Rahul’s statement, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju met Home Minister Amit Shah in the Parliament House. After this he went to the Speaker to register his protest. Then when he left from there, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Gaurav Gogoi from Congress came to meet the speaker. After this the Speaker called Rijiju again. Then Rijiju told the speaker in front of Priyanka and Venugopal that Rahul Gandhi had taken the name of the Home Minister and alleged that the bullet was fired at his behest.

Rijiju asked Rahul Gandhi to apologize

Rijiju said that this is a very sensitive matter and such irresponsible talk should not be made. At the same time, Congress leaders clearly denied this matter and said that Rahul Gandhi should be allowed to complete his speech, on which Rijiju clearly said that if Rahul Gandhi does not apologize then the House cannot function. After this, Rijiju met Amit Shah and informed him about the entire incident.

Rahul accused Amit Shah

In fact, during his address in the House, Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of police action against students. He also raised questions on Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the use of pellet guns on the protesters. During this, Rahul Gandhi also raised questions on the absence of the Home Minister in the House and said that why Amit Shah has not come to the House, why is he not coming? Rahul alleged that if he has not done anything, has not issued any order against the students, then he should clearly tell that he had not issued the order.
