A different game has started in West Bengal. The rebel faction of Trinamool Congress (TMC) has formed a new National Working Committee (NWC) under the chairmanship of senior leader Arup Roy and party supremo Mamata Banerjee has not been included in it. Now TMC MP Mahua Moitra has said in this matter that 65 rebel MLAs should resign from the Assembly and seek a new mandate from the public through elections. During this, he thanked West Bengal CM and BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari for ‘purifying’ TMC.
Mahua Moitra also said, ‘I just want to remind him of one thing, those 65 MLAs whom he keeps close to him or whom he knows that he controls or that Ritabrata lobby because of which Subhendu Adhikari became the leader of the opposition, open the records of these 65 people and see, because the day Javed Khan went to Suvendu Adhikari-da’s office, Subhendu-da shook hands with him and laughingly said, ‘Now get all your illegal constructions legalized. Take it’. He said that this is the system.
‘Everyone is changing sides out of fear’
Mahua Moitra further said, ‘The ‘washing machine’ which was running in Delhi, is running here also. Why is everyone changing sides today out of fear? Why are you going from Chhapra to Jiyabur today? Jiyabur was given ticket from Chapra instead of Rukbanur. How are Jiyabur shaking hands today? Why are they saying there is a lot of pressure on me? What kind of pressure? I have to save my workers. Workers don’t want to protect themselves like this! ISF had fielded its symbol there, BJP had also fielded its symbol and Trinamool had also fielded its symbol. After defeating everyone, Jiyabur won on Trinamool Congress ticket. The workers fought. Workers can never say, ‘Brother, just to save your life, you go and join BJP today’.
‘Get resignation from 65 MLAs’
Mahua Moitra also challenged the rebel faction of TMC to contest the elections on their own merit and said, ‘I say dissolve all the urban bodies and all the panchayats. Dissolve them immediately and hold elections tomorrow. Get these 65 MLAs to resign, change the name of the party to ‘Ritabrata Congress’ or ‘Javed Khan Congress’, whatever you like and go to the elections and get them re-elected.
Made this appeal to TMC leaders
He appealed to the rest of the party leaders to let the rebel leaders choose their path. None of the rebel leaders have won on the basis of their ability, rather they have won because of the election symbol of Mamata Banerjee and TMC. The purification that Mamata Banerjee could not do because of her love and sympathy for her party members, Suvendu Adhikari and BJP have done it in a day and I am grateful to them for it.
