An agreement has been reached to end the US-Iran war that has lasted for almost four months. US President Donald Trump announced this. This war devastated the Middle East, affecting the global economy and many major countries. Also tested the world’s biggest powers. Let us understand who benefited and who suffered loss in this fight.
1. Iran
Iran suffered huge losses due to air strikes by America and Israel. Its traditional navy was largely destroyed. Many big leaders including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei were also killed. The already weak economy became worse. Despite this, the Iranian government remains in power. The defense industry may have suffered huge losses. He still has a large number of missiles and drones. A large part of its enriched uranium is also left. The most important thing was that the Strait of Hormuz opened with the consent of Iran and not on the basis of military force.
2. America and Donald Trump
The war also affected America. Petrol prices increased. Every American family had to spend an average of $450 extra. The American army carried out several attacks, but it was not successful in toppling the Iranian government or completely destroying its power. In retaliation, Iran damaged 20 American military bases in the region. Due to this, the confidence of the allied countries in America further decreased.
This war became a political challenge for Trump. In a survey in May, 60% of Americans were against the war. Trump’s goal was to eliminate Iran’s missile capability, navy and nuclear program, but this was not completely possible. The missile stockpile definitely reduced, but was not eliminated. The issue of Iran’s nuclear program has also not been completely resolved yet.
3. Israel
Israel started the war with the hope that the threat from Iran would end. But even after the agreement, Iran’s government, missiles and enriched uranium still exist. Therefore Israel’s concerns still remain. According to reports, Israel’s role in the final talks was also limited. America and Israel had started the war side by side, but Trump bypassed Netanyahu and agreed to a deal with Iran. Trump completely excluded Netanyahu from peace talks.
4. Gulf countries
Many Gulf countries including UAE had to face drone and missile attacks from Iran. The UAE suffered the most attacks, although its air defense system prevented major losses. The UAE complained about the lack of solidarity from its neighbors. Now Gulf countries are preparing to invest in new pipelines and alternative export routes to reduce dependence on Hormuz.
5. China and Russia
China is a big partner and oil buyer of Iran. Despite this he was less affected by the crisis. He took recourse to his oil reserves and renewable energy. Russia got the benefit of high oil prices for some time, but this did not completely solve its economic problems.
6. Ukraine
Initially it seemed that this war would be harmful for Ukraine, but the opposite happened. Demand for Ukraine’s experience in stopping Iranian drone attacks increased. After this Ukraine signed new security agreements with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
7. Britain
Britain is already struggling with inflation. Here the domestic energy bill is expected to increase by an average of 200 pounds from July and inflation may reach 4%. The war also exposed Britain’s military weakness. When the British Royal Air Force base in Cyprus was attacked by drones on March 1, there was no major Royal Navy warship present in the Mediterranean Sea.
8. Impact on global economy
Oil prices increased by about 40% during the war. This increased concerns about inflation and energy crisis. The war has affected some of the world’s poorest countries. This means that the war may be coming to an end, but its economic and political effects will be felt for a long time.
