In view of the ongoing crisis and fuel shortage in the Middle East region, PM Narendra Modi had recently advised people to reduce the use of oil and car pooling. But perhaps the ministers themselves are not following his advice. During the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, PM Modi asked the ministers which of them had come in a car pool, to which all of them replied in the negative.
According to sources, during the cabinet meeting, PM Modi advised the ministers to do car pooling. Also, PM Modi said that you people will have to increase contact with the general public on the ground. Feedback from the general public is very important for the government and your ministry.
Ministers should also do car pooling: PM Modi
Referring to saving petrol and diesel and car pooling during the meeting, PM Modi told the ministers that everyone should do car pooling. During this, he asked which cars have come here by pooling for today’s meeting. To this everyone replied ‘no’.
Most of the states of the country are facing scorching heat. People are in distress due to the strong sunlight. Amidst the scorching heat, PM Modi had suggested people through his social media post yesterday to avoid the sun and drink plenty of water. Even in the cabinet meeting, the PM said that drink as much water as possible during the heat wave and ask the people of your area to drink as much water as possible in this scorching heat.
Don’t panic buy fuel
On the other hand, the government again requested people not to make panic buying of fuel. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday appealed to the common people to avoid panic buying of petrol, diesel and LPG and assured that the government is taking all necessary steps to maintain the fuel supply.
Chairing a high-level meeting of the Informal Group of Ministers (IGOM) set up to monitor the situation in West Asia, Rajnath Singh directed the officials concerned to continuously work towards improving the country’s preparedness in the changing situation. He also stressed that fertilizers and other essential resources related to agriculture should remain available to the farmers, so that the prices of food items in the country do not increase.
Chemicals and Fertilizer Minister JP Nadda, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Railways and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Energy Minister Manohar Lal and Ports and Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and others were present in the meeting. IGOM was also informed that there is adequate supply of petrol and diesel across the country.
