Which 14 issues were agreed upon in the US-Iran deal, these issues are still unresolved

June 15, 2026 by Uma Shankar

An important agreement has been agreed to end the war that has been going on for almost four months between America and Iran. US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif confirmed this on Sunday. Trump said on his social media platform that the agreement between America and Iran has been completed. He said that now the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to all the ships of the world and the American naval blockade on Iranian ports will also be lifted immediately.

Pakistan and Qatar played the role of mediator in this matter. Shahbaz Sharif said that both the countries have agreed to completely stop military action on all fronts. This also includes Lebanon, about which there were a lot of differences earlier. The official signing of the agreement will take place in Switzerland on June 19. Under the agreement, America will lift its naval blockade on Iran’s ports. Also, movement of ships will resume in the Strait of Hormuz. This week officials of both the countries will also hold technical level talks.

According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, 14 points of the proposed deal…

  1. The war will be stopped immediately and forever, including on the Lebanese front.
  2. America will not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.
  3. America will lift its maritime blockade and the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to ships within 30 days.
  4. American forces will withdraw from the areas around Iran.
  5. There will be relief in the sanctions imposed on Iranian oil and Iran will be able to get the money back from its oil earnings.
  6. America and its allies will provide up to $300 billion in aid for the reconstruction of Iran.
  7. Talks will continue between the two countries for the next 60 days, in which nuclear programs and sanctions will be discussed.
  8. Iran will promise under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) that it will not make nuclear weapons.
  9. America will not impose any new sanctions during the talks.
  10. America will not take any new military action against Iran during the talks.
  11. Iran’s frozen assets worth $24 billion will be returned in a phased manner.
  12. A system will be made to monitor whether the agreement is being followed or not.
  13. Efforts will be made to get the final agreement approved by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
  14. The issues of Iran’s missile program and its supported proxy organizations will not be part of this conversation.

Which issues still remain unresolved?

The agreement regarding the nuclear program states that Iran’s highly enriched uranium stock will be destroyed and a strict system will be created to monitor it. American officials say that this will help in maintaining long-term peace in the Middle East. However, the statements of both the countries are different on this issue.

The American side says that the uranium will be destroyed, while Iran says that it will be allowed to keep it in less enriched form in its country. This agreement is not even the final peace deal yet. This is an initial agreement (MoU), after which detailed negotiations will take place for the next 60 days. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has clearly said that he will first see whether America fulfills its promises or not and only then will move forward on the final agreement.

Will Trump go to Switzerland?

US Vice President JD Vance has said that he may attend the signing ceremony to be held in Switzerland. He also indicated that Donald Trump may also arrive at the ceremony at the last moment. However, due to security reasons and the schedule of the G7 conference to be held in France, a final decision on this has not been taken yet.

The US Secret Service usually avoids sending the President and Vice President together to events abroad. This is done for security reasons. For this reason, only one of Trump or JD Vance can attend the program of signing the US-Iran agreement, the possibility of both of them coming together is less.
