
Mohanlal First Directorial Film: The audience has a different craze for superstar Mohanlal’s films. As soon as his film comes out, there is a crowd in the theaters. Currently ‘Drishyam 3’ is in theaters and has captured the box office as soon as it came. In just 3 days this film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. But it is not necessary that every film of Mohanlal has the same craze. There have been many of his films which have flopped at the box office. One of these films is his film ‘Baroz 3D’. This was Mohanlal’s first direction and he had high expectations from it. But ‘Burroughs 3D’ flopped badly at the box office and cost the makers crores of rupees.
In his illustrious career of 45 years, Mohanlal has worked in more than 400 films, out of which more than 200 films were hits and many films also fell in the category of flop. But the film from which Mohanlal had the highest expectations, which was his dream project, broke the hearts of Mohanlal as well as the makers. ‘Baroj 3D’ was the first film which was directed by Mohanlal. But Mohanlal’s directorial debut was such a flop that he never thought of becoming a director again.
Mohanlal’s film is in bad shape
Mohanlal took over the reins of director for the first time with ‘Burroughs 3D’. This film, released theatrically on 25 December 2024, was produced by Antony Perumbavoor. This 2 hours 34 minutes long film is considered to be one of the biggest flops of Mohanlal’s career. It was made on a huge budget. But its performance at the box office was so bad that it could not even recover its budget. Mohanlal started his directorial career with ‘Baroj 3D’. But even before making it, Mohanlal had made it clear that this is his first and last directorial film. It is also said to be Mohanlal’s dream project.

The film ran in theaters for 14-15 days
Mohanlal’s ‘Baroj 3D’ could run only for 14 to 15 days at the box office. This film did not live up to the expectations of the audience and critics and proved to be a disaster at the box office. It was removed from the theater due to lack of audience. ‘Burroughs 3D’ was based on the novel by famous writer Jijo Punnuse. Mohanlal also directed it and he also played the character of a ghost named ‘Baroj’ in the film.
‘Burroughs 3D’ Budget and Collection
Rs 100 crore was spent in making ‘Burroughs 3D’. But in its entire theatrical run, the film earned Rs 15.10 crore worldwide. At the same time, this film collected only Rs 9.83 at the domestic box office. The condition of this film was so bad that you will laugh after hearing its rating. This film has got 3.3 rating on IMDb. After being a flop at the box office, the film was released digitally on Disney + Hotstar on January 22, 2025.
