The ongoing tension between America and Iran continues. President Donald Trump held a meeting with his advisors in the Situation Room of the White House on Friday. During this, the issue of agreement with Iran was discussed. However, no result was achieved in this meeting.
No decision was taken in the meeting regarding extending the ceasefire with Iran and moving forward on the agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Before the meeting on Friday, Trump had said that he was trying to take a final decision on the agreement with Iran. Trump held a meeting in the Situation Room of the White House for about two hours. During this, the draft of a possible agreement with Iran was discussed. However, no final decision was taken in the meeting.
How will Trump agree to the agreement?
After the talks, a White House official said that President Trump will only make that agreement which is good for America and meets his stipulated conditions. The official said that the meeting with the national security advisors, which lasted for about two hours, ended without any decision. He said that Trump will only sign an agreement that meets some of his conditions and curbs Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He said that Iran can never acquire nuclear weapons. It can never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
‘The talks have not yet reached the final stage’
The comments came as the White House indicated that a possible deal was being considered, while Iranian officials stressed that talks had not yet reached the final stage. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bakai said that dialogue and discussions are continuing between the two countries, but no final agreement has been reached yet. Along with this, he also rejected the fact that Tehran is negotiating under the conditions imposed by America. He said that Iran had said goodbye to the language of command 47 years ago.
Iran called Trump’s statement false
This comes after President Trump presented a broad outline of a potential deal, which included reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting the blockade blocking maritime traffic and coordination on Iran’s enriched uranium reserves. However, Iranian state media challenged many of these claims. Fars news agency described Trump’s statement as a mix of truth and lies and refuted his claims regarding the fate of Iran’s nuclear material and the rules governing ship passage through the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, Tehran is demanding the release of billions of dollars of frozen Iranian assets abroad as part of any possible agreement.
Regional tension continues
Meanwhile, there are no signs of tension in West Asia reducing. America and Iran are accusing each other of violating the recently announced ceasefire, while the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah is also continuing in Lebanon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli forces had pushed deeper into Lebanon, while Hezbollah claimed responsibility for drone attacks targeting Israeli military bases in the northern part of the country. Despite diplomatic efforts, both sides are accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
