WhatsApp View Once Text Messages: WhatsApp is preparing another new privacy feature for its users. According to reports, the company may soon bring such a feature, with the help of which even ordinary text messages can be sent in “view once” mode. This would mean that the receiver would be able to read the message only once and after that it would automatically disappear. Currently, this feature is in the development stage, but after getting its hint in the Android beta version, it is believed that the company is working rapidly on it.
View once mode will be available for text messages
According to WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp already provides View Once feature for photos, videos and voice messages. In this feature, the content can be seen or heard only once and it is not available again later. Now the company is preparing to bring the same facility for text messages also. According to the report of WABetaInfo, indications related to this feature have been found in Android beta version 2.26.22.7. If this feature is launched, users will be able to send even simple text messages with additional security. This will make it possible to share personal and sensitive information in a more secure manner.
This is how the new feature can work
According to the report, using this feature can be quite easy. It is being told that while sending the message the user will have to press and hold the send button for a few seconds. Additional options will then appear, which may include the option to “Send as View Once”. As soon as the receiver opens and reads that message, it will not be accessible again. Like the existing View Once media, this feature too will not have the facility to save, forward or view the message repeatedly. With this, the privacy and security features of WhatsApp can become stronger than before.
For which users it will be most useful
This feature can prove to be very useful for those who share sensitive information. For example, temporary passwords, personal information, confidential office notes, important event details or information related to any surprise plan can be sent securely. Although WhatsApp already has a disappearing messages feature, the new View Once Text feature will take security a step further as messages can be read only once. At present WhatsApp has not officially announced it nor shared the launch timeline. It is believed that in the coming time, this feature can be made available first for beta testers and then for all users.
