Gwalior News: Madhya Pradesh High Court, while giving a big verdict in favor of Gwalior engineer Ajay Singh in a 16-year-old legal battle, has made a strong comment on the functioning of the state government and the investigating agencies. The court acknowledged that due to technical glitches and delay in investigation, an innocent person had to suffer mental, social and professional harm for one and a half decade. On which Jabalpur High Court has given instructions to the state government to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Ajay Singh.

Actually, this whole matter is of the year 2010. Gwalior resident engineer Ajay Singh had reached Bhopal from Raja Bhoj Airport to go to Delhi. During the security check at the airport, his bag was checked through a scanning machine. Meanwhile, the explosive detector machine showed an alert. On the basis of suspicion, security officers deployed a thorough search of the bag, in which a powder-like substance was found. In the initial investigation, it was considered a drug and without sufficient confirmation, Ajay Singh was taken into custody.

Later, the police registered serious cases related to drug smuggling against him and he was sent to jail. Due to this action of the investigating agencies, an educated and professional person had to stay in jail for 57 days among the criminals. The substance that was believed to be an intoxicant turned out to be actually dry mango powder, commonly used in the kitchen. It took almost two months for the Forensic Science Lab’s report to arrive, after which it became clear that the matter was a complete misunderstanding and technical error.

Ajay knocked the door of the court

After the report came out, Ajay Singh got bail, but this incident left a deep impact on his life. He approached the court regarding this matter and continued the legal fight against the negligence of the system. After a long time, the single bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court, while hearing this entire case, made important comments.

The court also said that this incident has caused serious damage to the social reputation, career and mental condition of the petitioner, which is not possible to compensate completely.

Order to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakh

Madhya Pradesh High Court gave instructions to the state government to give compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Ajay Singh. This decision of the court is not only going to provide relief to the victim, but is also being considered an important message for the security agencies and forensic departments.
