If superstars like Sunny Deol and Akshay Khanna debut on OTT, they make headlines. The expectations of the audience can be estimated. Both the actors have been creating havoc at the box office. Akshay Khanna has gained popularity at the box office by playing dacoits like Aurangzeb and Rehman. Both the actors were seen together in Border twenty nine years ago. Overall, director Siddharth P. Malhotra had created such chemistry in casting that it was bound to be discussed before the release. Everyone had a lot of expectations from the film.

OTT’s typical crime drama
The real issue of this film is hidden in the story of Ikka and the dialogues of Sunny Deol’s character. Of course, the story of the film is predictable, and the last part falls prey to a typical OTT crime drama. But this does not affect the real issue of the film. Within the film, we ignore this serious issue in search of the typical image of Sunny and Akshay.
First of all let’s understand the story. First of all, it is shown in the film that at midnight, a blood-soaked girl named Soma Mittal is pushed in the middle of the road by a car. Later it is revealed that Akshay Khanna was driving that car. Who is in the role of Shauryaman Gaur, son of a well-known politician. Now the city’s biggest lawyer Arjun Mehra is hired to save him. Arjun Mehra is called ace because he has not lost any case till date. Arjun initially does not want to take the case because his principle is that the law is made to help the victims and not to protect the accused.
Essence of the film in a dialogue of Sunny
The story takes a turn when it is revealed that Sunny Deol and Dia Mirza’s innocent daughter is suffering from cancer. After this, needy Arjun Mehra gets ready to fight the case of Shauryaman Gaur. Even though Arjun Mehra is fighting this case, his conscience is ready to support Shauryaman Gaur. Watch this film on Netflix to know what happens next in the story, whether Arjun Mehra fights this case or whether Shauryaman Gaur is punished by the court or not. But during this, a dialogue of Sunny Deol in the role of Arjun Mehra is the essence of the entire film.
In one scene, during the debate in the court, when Sunny Deol sees that questions are being asked about the character of Soma Mittal, who is fighting between life and death in the hospital, then the mother of the victim present there gets embarrassed. Sunny is very saddened by the whole situation of this scene and after coming home, he says to his wife Dia Mirza – “I cannot see the character of someone else’s daughter being publicly assassinated like this for the sake of my own daughter. Just like I have a daughter, others also have daughters in the same way. Today in the court, I have seen a mother feeling embarrassed.”

The kind of characters we know Sunny Deol for on the silver screen, his character in Ikka is exactly the opposite. Neither Sunny Deol creates thrill nor Akshaye Khanna creates terror in Ikka. People had unnecessarily guessed it as Tara Singh vs Rahman Dacoit. There is nothing like that in Ikka. Sunny Deol is in a very sensitive character here. During the above dialogue, a deep sense of guilt and confusion can be felt on Sunny’s face. If we look at Sunny without prejudice, then he has a very serious impact in such scenes.
Understanding and respecting others’ daughters like one’s own daughter is the real issue of this film, the message of which could not reach the audience properly due to it being a typical crime drama with a high profile star cast. Apart from Dia Mirza, the one character in the film who surprised me the most. That is Tilottama Shome, who played the role of the lawyer of the victim Soma Mittal. Tilottama did not look any lighter in the role of Madhura Banerjee in front of a big actor like Sunny Deol. She is very weak in comparison to Sunny’s personality but is very natural on the acting front.
