Mobile Restoration Module: The incidents of cyber fraud are increasing rapidly, people fall into the trap of fraudsters and lose their hard-earned money in an instant. People again keep visiting banks in the hope of getting back the money lost in fraud, but now the Home Ministry has started the MRM Portal, giving relief to the people who were victims of fraud, MRM means Mobile Restoration Module. This government portal provides the facility to the victims of fraud to get their money back i.e. apply for refund sitting at home. One thing that we want to clear here at the very beginning is that through this portal only those people will be benefited who have filed a complaint immediately as soon as the fraud takes place and the account of the fraudster has been frozen.
What is Mobile Restoration Module?
I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre) has launched the Mobile Restoration Module, which is a part of the Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. The government has prepared this portal with the aim of simplifying the process of getting back the money of the victims of cyber fraud so that people do not have to visit banks or government offices to get back their hard-earned money.
There are two conditions to get the money back, firstly, a complaint has been lodged immediately through 1930 helpline or cyber crime portal and secondly, the account of the fraudster has been frozen. Once both these conditions are fulfilled, you can apply to get a refund through this portal.
This is the way to apply
- First of all go to Money Restoration Website mrm-ncrp.mha.gov.in.
After this click on Raise Refund Request, after this enter the 14 digit complaint number. You get this number at the time of complaint registration, after that verify the OTP. - The victim will be shown information about the refund account in which the refund amount will be deposited under the Refund Account Details tab. The victim has to enter the correct IFSC code, if the victim has a court order then a copy of the order can be uploaded using the Select Court Order option.
- Enter the captcha and press the submit button.
- After this you will get a 14 digit request ID which will be sent to your mobile number and email ID. Make sure that the information you have given is correct, wrong information may delay you in getting the solution.

Know different rules
If the amount is less than Rs 50,000 then there is no need for FIR and court order but the process of getting refund can be completed on the basis of complaint made to the police. If the amount is more than Rs 50,000 but the fraudster has transferred the money to different accounts and the amount in any one account is not more than Rs 50,000, then in this case also there will be no need for FIR and court order. If the amount is more than Rs 50,000 then FIR will have to be registered in this case and court order will also be mandatory.
