This does not seem possible because ATM machines are quite secure, but till now there have been many such cases in the US in which hackers have hacked ATMs and withdrawn money. As of now, no such case has come to light in India, this type of case in the US has been named ATM Jackpotting. In such a situation, it becomes important to understand what ATM Jackpotting is and how hackers create the whole game and withdraw money?

How does ATM jackpotting work?

According to the Economic Times, cases reported in the US have revealed that hackers insert malware into ATM machines. This malware infects the ATM software that controls its physical operation. Generally, ATMs send instructions for approval from the bank before giving cash, but hackers send their commands without taking the approval of the bank. With this, they withdraw cash without getting approval from any card, account or bank server.

According to USA Today, one way is to remove the ATM’s hard drive, connect it to the computer, copy the malware and then put it back in. If understood in simple language, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), ATM jackpotting is a cyber crime in which hackers control ATM machines using malware and withdraw cash without any bank card.
