At WWDC 2026, Apple has announced the new Ask to Browse feature for iPhone, iPad and Mac users, this child safety tool will be available with iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. The company has designed this feature especially for parents so that parents can have more control over the websites that their children access. The company introduced this feature along with several updates to parental controls, including time allowances, communication approvals and a redesigned Screen Time dashboard.
What is Ask to Browse?
Ask to Browse is a new parental control tool, this feature is designed for the online safety of children. With the introduction of this feature, children will now have to take permission from their parents to access those websites which have not been previously approved by the parents. The feature works similarly to Apple’s existing Ask to Buy system, which requires parental approval before a child can download an app or make an in-app purchase. If the child tries to visit any new website through Safari with Ask to Browse on, the child will have to send a request to the parent or guardian, after which the parent can choose whether to allow access or not.
Parents must first setup a child account for the child. Once your account is activated, age-appropriate protections are automatically applied to your device. After Ask to Browse is turned on, children can access websites that have parental approval, but you will be asked to get permission for any new site. The arrival of this new feature helps parents in monitoring the online activities of children.
Availability
Apple says that major features of Ask to Browse and child safety will be released later this year through iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 updates. This means that as soon as a new update comes for your device, you will also get this new feature.
