July 5, 2026 by Uma Shankar

IDPL ground of Rishikesh. Crowds gathered far and wide. As soon as the Chief Minister reached the stage, the entire complex echoed with slogans of “Dhakad Dhami Zindabad”. This day is very special in the politics of Uttarakhand. The occasion was the inauguration of the Seva Pakhwada program ‘Service, Good Governance and Dedication: People’s Government, People’s Door’, but this event also became a historical witness to the completion of five years of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. For the first time in the history of Uttarakhand, a Chief Minister has achieved this position by leading for five consecutive years.

The program was attended by Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 51 development projects costing more than Rs 219 crore in Dehradun district. The presence of thousands of people in the ground along with the public representatives present on the stage made this event a festival of public faith and public participation.

Achievement of public trust, democratic stability

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh congratulated Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on successfully serving the responsibility for more than five years and said that this achievement is a symbol of public trust, democratic stability and continuity of development. He said that historic decisions like anti-copying law, law against religious conversion and strict land law have been taken in Uttarakhand. He said that this is the land of Rishikesh-Haridwar, where Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took such a decision against corruption that in the future, even corrupt officers will tremble.

Whereas former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ also appeared to be crazy about the working style of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. In his address, he described Chief Minister Dhami as a strong leader and even said that when other states of the country follow the decisions taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, then his chest swells with pride.

Not celebration, but introspection, resolve to serve the public

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami clearly said in his address that for the government, this is not an occasion for celebration, but for introspection and further strengthening the resolve of public service. He said that power has never been a goal for him, but has been a medium of service. Describing public service, good governance, dedication and public trust as the biggest assets of the government, the Chief Minister reiterated his resolve to make Uttarakhand a developed and best state by the year 2035.

The Chief Minister said that the aim of the government is not only to make schemes but also to reach their benefits to the last person. With this in mind, Seva Pakhwada has been started and officials have been instructed to reach out to the public and ensure quick resolution of problems.

Investment of more than one lakh crore rupees

The Chief Minister also presented the report card of his five years’ tenure before the public. He said that investment worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore has already materialized in the state. Events like Chardham Yatra, Winter Yatra, National Games and G-20 have given a new identity to Uttarakhand.

In the last five years, more than 34 thousand youth got government jobs with complete transparency. Efforts were made to make the youth self-reliant through Startup Policy, Home Stay Scheme, One District-Two Products, Solar Self-Employment Scheme and self-employment based schemes. Under the Lakhpati Didi campaign, more than two lakh sixty-five thousand women have become self-reliant.

Topics of discussion in the last five years

In the last five years, many decisions of the Dhami government became the subject of national discussion. Decisions like implementation of Uniform Civil Code, strict anti-copying law, anti-conversion law, effective land law, major action against corruption, attack on corruption through 1064 helpline, taking action to big officials, action on illegal madrassas, decisions related to Madrassa Board, campaign against illegal encroachment and transparent recruitment process gave a different identity to the working style of the government. Meanwhile, the government also presented record growth in the field of tourism, investment, infrastructure, roads, health, education and development of marginal areas as its major achievements.

The crowd gathered at the IDPL ground, the vision of development from the stage, the Governor’s open appreciation and the Chief Minister’s resolve to serve… all of these definitely gave the message that this milestone of five years is not just a political achievement but has emerged as a symbol of the new development journey of Uttarakhand. Now the focus will be on the speed with which the goal of a developed and better Uttarakhand is achieved by the year 2035.
