We gave 200 kg of silver, did not receive the receipt… MD of Castles Group spoke on donation theft in Ayodhya

June 24, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The case of alleged misappropriation in Ayodhya Ram temple donations has become a topic of discussion across the country. After the controversy over donation theft, the state government constituted a SIT to investigate the matter, which submitted its report yesterday on Tuesday. But there is a lot of resentment among the people who donate due to this manipulation. The MD of Castle Group of Companies says that 200 silver bricks were given for the Ram temple, the receipt for which was not given to us. The culprits who embezzle donated items should be punished.

Dr. Raju V. Manwani, Chairman and Managing Director of Castle Group of Companies in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, told news agency ANI, “On behalf of the entire Sindhi community, 200 silver bricks weighing one kilogram each were handed over to Champat Rai in Ayodhya on January 26, 2021 for the construction of Ram Temple. Then we were not given any receipt for this donation.”

‘Where was our silver used?’

Manwani says, “At the time of donating, people associated with the temple said that they would first investigate and decide where and how to use it, and then let us know.” “We never seriously raised the question of whether the donation would go to the temple or somewhere else. However, now after seeing the news continuously, we started worrying, did our donated silver go to the wrong place? That is why we asked for the receipt and information about where the silver was used.”

On the issue of alleged misappropriation in Ayodhya Ram temple donations, MD Manwani said, “If the silver is not used for the temple, then it is a very sad thing. If the donation given for the temple is used somewhere else, it affects future donors.” While assessing, he said that when we donated, the price of silver used to be around Rs 1.5 to 2 crore. But today its price has gone up to Rs 6 to 7 crores.”

The culprits should be punished: Manwani

He said, “People definitely have the right to ask about the donations given by them. Since nothing is impossible under the leadership of Modi and Yogi, if SIT is formed, then at least those culprits who misused this right should be punished.”

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged misappropriation in the financial management of Ram Temple donation submitted its report to the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday. The SIT submitted its initial report to the state’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad.

SIT submitted report to Additional Chief Secretary

SIT Chairman and Lucknow Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant said, “We handed over the investigation report of the 3-member SIT constituted by the government to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home). This is a preliminary report and in the same sequence it has been handed over to the Additional Chief Secretary.”

On questions related to embezzlement, he said that this is a confidential investigation and we are not authorized to reveal it yet. He said that whatever was our investigation, we have made it available to the government. The state government constituted the SIT on June 13 to investigate allegations of embezzlement related to the financial management of the Ram Mandir Trust and donation funds. SIT was formed on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the request of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
