
The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to consider a petition requesting to frame guidelines for disposal of cases within stipulated time frame. During this, the judges said that we do not want to create enmity with the lawyers. For this go to the Bar Council and associations. A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice V Mohana rejected the petition filed by an advocate.
The petition requested to create uniform, systematic and effective guidelines to regulate the process of adjournment of hearing in all courts across the country.
What is the whole matter?
The petitioner told the bench that the purpose of his petition is to frame guidelines regarding the frequent and uncontrolled adjournment of hearing of cases in the courts. On this, the bench asked the petitioner, who was representing himself, to approach the Bar Council of India, State Bar Council, High Court Bar Associations and District Court Bar Associations.
‘We do not want enmity with lawyers’
The bench said in a light tone that we do not want to create enmity with the lawyers. We are friends of lawyers. It was also requested in the petition that a uniform national case management policy applicable to all the courts of the country should be prepared and implemented, that is, there should be a uniform system of disposal of cases in all the courts.

In this policy, an appeal was made to include arrangements like fixed time limits for various stages of proceedings, provisions for regulating adjournments, continuous and day-to-day hearing in appropriate cases and disposal of long pending and old cases on priority basis.
