Was PF money stuck after changing jobs? Transfer will be done in minutes through this new e-portal of EPFO

July 30, 2026 by Uma Shankar

EPFO: When we change jobs, many times we forget to link the PF of the old company with the account of the new company. Or this cannot happen due to some technical reason. The result is that our hard-earned money remains lying in those old accounts, which we even forget about.

To end this problem of yours forever, the government has prepared a new digital portal E-PRAAPTI. This portal works completely through your Aadhar card. With its help, you can not only easily find your old and closed PF accounts, but can also add that money to your existing current PF account (UAN).

How will this new portal help you?

This new system has been made very simple, so that a common working person can use it. When you visit this portal, it will confirm your identity with the help of your Aadhaar. As soon as your old account is found, you will have two options.

First- You transfer that old money to your current PF account, so that all your retirement money becomes safe at one place. Second- If you need money, you can also choose the option to withdraw (claim) those funds. This means that now you will not have to visit offices for your own money.

Will there be benefit even without old information?

This question may come to your mind that if someone does not remember his old PF number or any details, will this portal help him? Recently, when this question was asked in Parliament, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje made the matter clear.

He told that at present the government does not have any such plan. This simply means that if you want to find your old PF, then you must have some information about your old account or it is very important to link it with Aadhaar.

Paper hassle ends, brokers will be furloughed

The biggest advantage of this new digital method is that the paper work related to PF will now almost end. Earlier, there was a lot of hassle in updating KYC in PF account, but now you will be able to submit ‘Joint Declaration’ form online.

With this, verification of your details will be done very fast. Since the entire claim process has become online, there will be complete transparency in it. Now there will be no scope for any kind of brokerage or unnecessary delay in claim settlement.

Another good news for PF account holders

Apart from this facility of linking old accounts, there is another good news for the people associated with PF (EPFO). EPFO has started depositing the 8.25% interest fixed for the financial year 2025-26 into people’s PF accounts. This work is going on very fast and messages (SMS) of interest money being deposited have also started coming on the mobile phones of many employees. You can also check your passbook.
