War has broken out again between America and Iran. After the announcement by US President Donald Trump, the US Army has started attacks on Iran. The army itself has issued a statement giving this information. Attacks are being carried out in different areas of Iran. America is carrying out bombings on important targets of Iran like Abu Musa Island, Bandar Abbas. There have also been attacks in Chabahar, after which the power supply has been cut here. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is to be laid to rest today in Mashhad city. America is calling these attacks as revenge for the attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Mohsen Rezaei, military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, posted a verse from the Quran on X and said that ‘the attacking enemy and his accomplices will be severely punished’.
The US Central Command issued a statement on its official X handle at around 1.45 pm Indian time. The statement said – At the direction of the US Army Chief, the US Central Force has launched additional strikes against Iran to further weaken its ability to threaten movement in the Strait of Hormuz. The US is holding Iran accountable for recent attacks against ships and civilian crew traveling freely through vital international waterways.
Iranian media has reported explosions in Sirik, Bushehr, Konark and Chabahar and air defense systems have been activated in many areas. The port in Sirik has been targeted. Earlier also on the night of July 8, America had attacked Iran. Iran also retaliated by targeting American bases in the Gulf countries.
Donald Trump’s statement
Donald Trump’s statement on the attacks said – This is revenge for the bomb attacks on ships by Iran. If this happens again, things will get even worse! Trump had announced it even before the attack. Yesterday, on July 8, Trump had told the media that his ceasefire with Iran had ended. After this, Trump had warned of attacking at night and the US Army did exactly that.
There was a deal between America and Iran
An MoU was signed between the two countries on June 17. It was believed that the war was now over. After signing that deal, both the countries had to hold talks to agree on different issues. But that too failed. On the other hand, Iran remained adamant on controlling the Strait of Hormuz. America and Iran again had a standoff over this issue. However, Iran has been busy with the last farewell ceremony of its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei for the last one week. According to the fixed schedule, Khamenei’s body is to be cremated today, July 9.
