Security agencies of Spain have detained gangster Gurpreet Singh alias Goldie Dhillon in the capital Madrid. He was detained based on intelligence shared by the Anti-Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police. His name had come up in the murder of a pharmacy cashier in broad daylight in Sector 11, Chandigarh. He is also accused of threatening Aam Aadmi Party MLA Neena Mittal and is also linked to several shooting incidents in Canada.
Goldie Dhillon was earlier associated with Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but later there was enmity between the two. Punjab Police was in touch with foreign agencies for a long time for the arrest of Goldie Dhillon. At present, there has been no official confirmation regarding the process of his arrest and bringing him to India.
Dhillon’s activities abroad were being monitored
According to sources, the authorities had been keeping an eye on his activities abroad for a long time before his arrest. Indian agencies are continuing the process of his extradition or deportation through diplomatic and legal channels, officials said.
Dhillon is a close associate of Goldie Brar
Dhillon is also known as ‘Goldie Rajpura’. He is a close associate of Canada-based gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldie Brar, who has been declared a terrorist by the Home Ministry. A senior police officer clarified that these two are not the same person. However, Dhillon has been named as a co-conspirator along with Brar in the NIA chargesheet in the extortion and shooting case targeting a businessman in Chandigarh’s Sector 5, in which both are still absconding.
Had fled abroad in 2022
According to Punjab Police, Dhillon had fled abroad in 2022 and after that he strengthened his network from abroad in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi-NCR. It is alleged that he ran several gangs involved in extortion and murders in Punjab for more than a year. In one case, two henchmen hired by him to carry out murders in Mohali and Rajpura were arrested with five pistols and a cache of intoxicating pills.
