Virat Kohli: Not a century or a half-century, Virat Kohli’s 43 runs are the guarantee of success, know how many times he has won?

May 27, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Whenever Indian cricket team’s star batsman Virat Kohli scores runs, the team usually wins. Be it Team India or his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli scores runs and makes the team win. His performance continues in IPL 2026 also, where he has scored more than 600 runs. Kohli also played an inning of 43 runs in Qualifier-1 of this season and helped the team reach the final. With this, this happened for the third time in Kohli’s career, when he scored 43 runs in a playoff or knockout match and the team won.

The first qualifier match of IPL 2026 was played in Dharamshala on Tuesday 26 May. In this, there was a clash between table topper Bengaluru and second placed Gujarat Titans. Bengaluru Batted first in this match and scored 254 runs, which is the record for the highest score in the history of IPL playoffs. For that, captain Rajat Patidar created an outcry by scoring unbeaten 93 runs in just 33 balls. In response, Gujarat was all out for just 162 runs and RCB won by 92 runs.

Kohli’s 43 runs again brought success

Obviously the most talked about in this victory was the innings of Captain Patidar, which laid the foundation of big score and victory. But former captain Virat Kohli also played a big role in giving the team an explosive start by playing a quick inning of 43 runs in 25 balls. However, he could not complete his half-century and missed a big score. But on the basis of this the team got a fast start, which helped in reaching a big score. Ultimately, Bengaluru registered victory and entered the second consecutive final.

Won this way for the third time

Overall, this was the third such occasion when Kohli did not score a century or half-century, but an innings of 43 runs led the team to victory. Earlier, the same thing had happened in the IPL final of last season. Then Kohli had scored 43 runs in 35 balls against Punjab Kings and Bengaluru won the final and won the IPL trophy for the first time. Before that, Kohli had also scored 43 runs against England in the final of Champions Trophy 2013. It was the Indian team that won the title match and lifted the Champions Trophy.
