July 17, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Virat-Gambhir Rift Rumors: The relationship between Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and star batsman Virat Kohli has always been a topic of discussion in cricket circles. Recently, it was being claimed in some reports that during the ongoing ODI series against England, the talks between these two greats were completely stopped. These rumors were further fueled when the two were seen not talking to each other during the practice session at Edgbaston. Now Team India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has broken his silence on all these news and rumors and has revealed the truth.

Talks between Virat and Gambhir are closed?

Team India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak completely rejected these rumors in the press conference after the second ODI match played in Cardiff. When during the press conference, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak was asked a question about the rift between Virat Kohli and head coach Gautam Gambhir, he smiled and said, ‘There must have been at least 10 conversations between Virat and Gautam today. I don’t think they both need a bridge to talk to each other.

Kotak further said that he does not understand from where and how such baseless rumors emerge. He clarified that the atmosphere in the dressing room is absolutely perfect and everything is fine between the two. Giving an example of Cardiff ODI, Kotak also proved that there is a good rapport between Virat and head coach Gambhir. Kotak told that when Virat Kohli was batting on the field, he had sent an important message to the dressing room and head coach Gambhir from the crease itself. Kohli had told in the message that this pitch of Cardiff is a bit slow and short-pitched balls are not coming on the bat easily.

Scored a half century in the second ODI match

In the second match of the series played between the two teams, Team India had to face defeat by 4 wickets. But in this match, a good innings was seen from Virat’s bat. Facing 66 balls, he scored 65 runs, which included 8 fours. As long as Virat was at the crease, Team India was moving towards a big score. But the innings fell apart after his dismissal. Due to which this series is now tied at 1-1.
