On hearing the name of Rishikesh, waves of Mother Ganga, echo of temple bells and a wonderful peace come to mind. There is something in the air here that everyone is drawn to. Some come just in search of peace, while others come to witness the grand Ganga Aarti in the evening. Amidst this sacred and crowded environment, a video has surfaced on social media. In which a boy did a unique experiment on ‘applying Tilak’ on the ghats of Rishikesh and showed how a good source of income can be created through this classic work.
This amazing video has been shared with a social media handle named ‘Tan_E’. The person seen in the video is not a professional Pandit, rather he just started applying Tilak on people in Rishikesh as an experiment. Before starting the work, he did complete planning. First of all, he wore traditional Indian clothes (Kurta-Pyjama), so that he could fully immerse himself in the religious environment there and people would not shy away from seeing him, but would feel comfortable.
How much do you earn?
With full preparation he set out towards the ghat with the puja thali in his hand. During the day, he started his journey a little away from the main ghats, i.e. from the surrounding roads and streets. He started applying tilak by stopping the people passing by. Initially the response was nothing special. Some people would smile and stop and get tilak applied on their forehead, while many people would move ahead without listening. In this initial period, there was a lot of hard work and the earning was negligible. He applied Tilak to about 20 people, due to which he barely got 50 to 60 rupees in his pocket. Looking at this, at first glance it seems that this work is a loss-making deal and there is no scope in it. But the real twist was yet to come.
As the sun started setting, the entire view of Rishikesh changed. As soon as it was time for the evening Ganga Aarti, there was a flood of reverence on the ghats. People started appearing everywhere. At this time, there is so much faith in the atmosphere that everyone is seen immersed in the colors of worship. Sensing this changing environment, the boy changed his strategy and headed straight to the ghat where a huge crowd had gathered.
This time the tables had completely turned. Now he no longer needed to run after people or stop them. In fact, people were coming to him with reverence on their own and getting tilak applied. The atmosphere was such that within no time he decorated sandalwood tilak on the foreheads of hundreds of people. The crowd was so huge that his hand was not stopping.
The most surprising claim made in the video was his earning figures. Within just three hours, he earned a total of Rs 2,350 by applying tilak. The experience in the evening was completely different and eye-opening compared to the morning. While requests had to be made in the morning, people themselves stood in queues in the evening. After this entire social experiment, the person shared a very practical lesson.
