Nature has created such creatures in the world that it is natural to be surprised after seeing them. Some animals live comfortably in snowy areas while some live their lives even in the scorching desert. Among these, a small but very interesting creature is the Kangaroo Rat. Its biggest specialty is that it does not need to drink separate water to stay alive. This is the reason why it is counted among the most unique desert creatures in the world.
Kangaroo rat is mainly found in the dry and sandy deserts of North America. It easily spends its life even where there is strong sunlight during the day and it is very difficult to get water. It has adapted itself well even in such a difficult environment. Its physical structure and habits make it completely different from other rats.
Why is this creature special?
The word Kangaroo is not included in its name just like that. Its hind legs are very long and strong, with the help of which it makes long jumps, just like a kangaroo. Its long tail helps in maintaining body balance while running and jumping. If needed, it can change its direction in the air, due to which it is not easy for predatory animals to catch it.
There are small sacs on the outside of its cheeks. These bags work like a bag for this. When it goes out in search of food, it fills seeds, dry grass or other edible items in these bags and brings it to its hole. Later, when needed, he uses the same stored food. This habit helps it to survive for a long time in difficult areas like desert.
The body of Kangaroo Rat is not very big in size. Its body length is about 18 centimeters, while the tail can be up to about 20 centimeters long. That means its total length is around 38 centimeters. Its front legs are short, while its hind legs are very long and powerful. The upper part of the body appears light brown or yellow in color, while the abdomen and lower part are white in color. Its eyes are relatively small and its head is slightly larger.
If we talk about its speed, then this small creature is quite agile. As soon as it senses danger, it quickly jumps and runs away. It is believed that it can cover a distance of up to six meters in about one second. Its fast speed and ability to change direction many times protects it from snakes, owls, foxes and other predatory creatures.

Kangaroo rat is a great example of the fact that nature adapts every living being to its environment. While humans can hardly survive for a few days without water, this small creature spends its entire life without drinking water.
