The story of Devashree Bharatiya, which came into discussion on social media, is an interesting example of this.
According to Devashree, she started her career in India with a job with an annual package of Rs 6 lakh. Today she is doing a well-paid job in America. He says that the journey to reach here was not easy and it took about three years. However, he believes that if work is done in the right direction, other people can reach this position in less time also.
How to boost your career
In her Instagram post, Devashree told that she had studied from a tier-3 college in Pune. At that time she had never thought that one day she would reach such a position. According to him, success is not just a game of luck. Constant hard work, willingness to learn and right strategy play a big role in this. He first talked about how to find a job. Devashree believes that today it is not enough to keep applying only on LinkedIn or other job portals. To get a job, it is important to present yourself in such a way that recruiters of companies reach you. He says that when a recruiter personally contacts the candidate, the chances of selection increase significantly.
For this he advised to remain active on LinkedIn. According to him, regularly sharing your experiences, learning and work-related information strengthens your professional identity. He also clarified that for this there is no need to become a full-time content creator. With a little planning, an entire month’s content can be created and scheduled in one day.
Devashree explained one more important thing to the candidates looking for jobs. He said that all job postings seen on the internet are not for genuine recruitment. Many times companies post such vacancies for which recruitment is not being done at present. These are usually called ghost jobs. He claims that about 30 percent of the job postings may be such that they are not actually hiring. In such a situation, if no response is received to any application, then candidates should not immediately assume that they have been rejected. Sometimes the reason may be something else.
Attention should be given to special skills
He also gave important suggestions regarding resume. Devashree says that especially people in their early career should not stop just by writing their job experience. If you have done any project, participated in hackathon, done research work or learned any special skill, then it should also be included in the resume. This makes the profile look stronger.
He also said that using the same resume for every job is not the right approach. The resume should be changed according to the position for which one is applying. It is important to properly link the skills and responsibilities mentioned in the job description with your experience and achievements.
Nowadays most of the big companies use ATS i.e. Applicant Tracking System. This is a software that identifies suitable candidates by scanning thousands of resumes. This system matches the keywords, technical skills, experience and qualifications in the resume with the job description. After this, only those resumes which pass the test of the system reach the HR team. Therefore, it has become very important to prepare the resume according to ATS.
Devashree’s opinion regarding interview preparation is also quite different. He says that merely preparing for DSA, coding or system design is not enough. Candidates should also have good knowledge about the company where they are going for interview. It is important to understand what the company’s product is, how its business model works, what is its position in the market and what challenges it is facing. This helps in better understanding and answering the questions asked during the interview.
Sharing her experience, Devashree said that continuous efforts in the right direction completely changed her life. His aim now is to help others avoid the mistakes it took him years to learn from. According to him, to achieve success in career, it is not only important to work hard but also work smartly.
