July 22, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Just before the beginning of the month of Sawan, a scene was seen in Katihar, Bihar, which is now being discussed everywhere. In this month, people especially come to Chhath Ghat in the morning or evening for a walk or for worship, but this time the people present here saw something which they would hardly be able to forget for a long time. A snake and a serpent have been seen, who were together for about an hour, at the newly built Chhath Ghat of Ramnagar Balua village located on the border of Kuretha and Sahaja Panchayats falling within the Pranpur and Manihari assembly constituencies. Both of them were seen sometimes roaming around each other, sometimes waving their hoods and sometimes quietly playing around on the banks of the ghat.

When some people present there initially saw this scene, they could not believe their eyes. Gradually this news started spreading in the village and then reached the surrounding areas. Within some time, a gathering of people started at Chhath Ghat. Everyone was eager to see this unique scene with their own eyes. However, people showed wisdom and maintained a safe distance from both the snakes. No one tried to go close to them, because both of them were very big in size and if they accidentally got angry then people might have to take them.

How long did the game of snake and serpent last?

The people present at the ghat included children, elderly people and women. Everyone stood at a safe place and watched this unique scene. Many people took out their mobile phones and started recording videos and pictures. Within no time this video started being shared on the village’s WhatsApp group and social media. Whoever saw this scene shared it with his acquaintances. Some people even reached the ghat specifically just to see this view.

The snakes and serpents remained around the ghat for about 60 minutes. During this, both of them were seen hugging each other several times and then separating. His actions were so natural that people just watched him without making any noise. Some people considered this to be a normal behavior of snakes, while for many villagers it was a very rare experience. The elders of the village said that they have rarely seen such a scene in their life.

As time passed, various things started happening among the people regarding this incident. Someone said that this is a wonderful sight of nature, which not everyone gets a chance to see. Some people considered it an auspicious sign before the arrival of Shravan month. He believed that the appearance of snakes like this before the favorite month of Lord Shiva has special significance. However, this is entirely a matter of people’s religious beliefs and personal faith.

Villagers took precautions

Some villagers also said that during the rainy season, snakes often come out of their holes because many places are filled with water. It is not unusual to see them in open places in such weather. Still, the presence of such a big snake and snake together at one place for a long time became a curiosity for the people.

The people present at the ghat exercised caution the entire time. No one tried to disturb the snakes or go near them and tease them. This was the reason that both the snakes continued their natural behavior without any hindrance. Later, after some time, both of them slowly left from there and went towards the surrounding bushes. As soon as he left, people heaved a sigh of relief, but the discussion continued.
