There are many birds in the world which are famous because of their beauty or voice, but some birds surprise people due to their unique habits. Kea found in New Zealand is one such bird. At first glance it looks like a normal parrot, but its mischiefs and intelligence make it completely different from other birds. This is the reason why it is counted among the most intelligent birds in the world. However, its curious habit sometimes becomes a cause of trouble for tourists.
If you go to visit the hilly areas of New Zealand and park your car in a parking lot, it is possible that your car may not be the same when you return. This is because the Kea bird present there is very fond of investigating new things. She cannot stop herself from seeing any new object and immediately starts touching it with her beak.
Why is this bird special?
Cars are the most targeted. Kea starts pulling the rubber parts of the vehicles with its strong beak. Many times it tries to uproot window seals, wipers, antenna, rubber around headlights and even tire parts. The spectators may find this sight amusing, but it may prove to be very expensive for the car owner. Many tourists have told that within a few minutes their vehicles got so damaged that they had to spend a lot of money on repairs.
Actually, Kea does not do this out of any enmity or anger. There is natural curiosity behind this. She wants to understand every new thing, what is inside it and how it works. Scientists say that Kea’s brain is very sharp. It has the ability to solve problems, learn new tricks and adapt itself to different situations. This is the reason why it is considered the most intelligent creature in the world of birds.
