Actually, Indian content creator Gunjan Devra, living in Chicago, Illinois, mentioned this incident on her Insta. He told that in the joy of getting a new house, the family organized Griha Pravesh Puja as per Indian culture and also decorated the outside of the house. Everything seemed normal, but after a few days, a notice from Homeowners Association i.e. HOA reached his house.
Received notice on decorating the house
It was written in the notice that the decorations installed outside the house would have to be removed within the stipulated time. If this is not done then fine can be imposed. Gunjan told that initially she did not understand why she got a notice for decorating her own house. He said that in India, people decorate their houses as per their choice and there is no restriction on it. Therefore, after coming to America, this experience was completely new for him. However, later they came to know that the issue was not about any complaint but about the rules of the HOA.
Gunjan explained in simple language in the video that Homeowners Association i.e. HOA works in many residential areas of America. If a person buys a house in such an area, he has to follow the rules made by the association to live there. The purpose of these rules is not to harass people, but to keep the entire area clean, organized and attractive. It strives to ensure that the exterior of every house appears as per a certain standard.
It’s all a game of rules
Gunjan told that a monthly fee is charged from every home owner for the facilities of HOA. In his area this fee is around 300 dollars per month, which is equivalent to approximately 29 thousand rupees in Indian rupees. In exchange for this amount the association provides many types of services. These include mowing the lawn, maintaining gardens, cleaning public areas, pruning trees and regular maintenance of the entire area. Since Gunjan lives in Chicago, which sees heavy snowfall in winter, the HOA team also works to remove snow from roads and sidewalks. Due to this, people do not face any problem in commuting and the risk of accidents like slipping also reduces.
