Nowadays, while booking an auto or cab, most of the people first look at the fare. Only the ride which is not heavy on the pocket is chosen. Many people leave with the same amount of money as the fare shown on the app. But imagine, what will happen if the fare suddenly increases after the ride is completed? Recently, a similar case came to light, the video of which is going viral on social media.
This video has been shared from an X account named sanatan_kannada. In the video, an auto driver is seen trying to convince a woman that the increased fare was not shown by him but by the app. According to the information, when the woman had booked the auto, the fare on the app was showing Rs 112. By the time the journey was completed, the same fare increased to Rs 142.
What is the whole matter?
It is clearly heard in the video that the woman is continuously questioning the driver as to how the fare increased. On the other hand, the driver is seen repeatedly saying that he has not made any change in the fare. The amount shown on the app is also visible to him. Despite this, the debate between the two continued for a long time. The real problem is that the driver is not in front of the passenger at that time, but the app. Therefore, whenever there is any problem regarding fare, the driver has to face it first. However, sometimes the drivers themselves feel uncomfortable in this situation because they do not have the right to control the fare.
In such cases the question arises as to whose fault should be considered. At first glance, people might blame the app, but the matter is not always that simple. Many ride apps update the final fare based on distance, time, traffic, or changes to the route. If for some reason the route of the journey changes or the journey exceeds the stipulated distance, the fare may increase.
In some cases, there is a difference in fare due to the driver adopting an alternative route. However, it is not necessary that every time this happens because of the driver. Many times the algorithm of the app also updates the fare based on new data during the journey.
After the video went viral, people also shared their experiences on social media. Many users told that this has happened with them too. One person wrote that he once traveled by Rapido and at the end of the ride the fare appeared higher than compared. On complaining the company returned the extra money.
