When she meets her husband’s great-grandmother for the first time after marriage, language becomes the biggest challenge between the two. Shefali speaks Hindi, while her husband’s great-grandmother knows only Telugu.

Although the languages of both were different, the joy and intimacy of meeting did not need any translation. In the video, both are seen sitting face to face. Shefali tries to speak some Telugu words with all her heart. A slight hesitation is also visible on his face, but more than that, enthusiasm and respect are clearly visible. During the conversation, she asks her husband whether her great grandmother likes to listen to Telugu songs. The husband conveys his message to his great grandmother in Telugu. After this the elderly woman answers in Telugu smilingly. However, Shefali does not understand his words completely. While showing this moment in the video, it is written on the screen that I don’t know what he said.
This is where this meeting becomes even more special. Despite not understanding the language, the smiles on the faces of both show that words are not needed as much as affection and respect are needed in the relationships of the hearts. Further in the video, Shefali tells that she had thought that maybe there would be a bond between the two through Hindi songs. But this could not happen because she had never heard of the artists and songs that her husband’s family members were talking about. Despite this the conversation does not stop. The two spend time together, using gestures, smiles and translating with the help of her husband.
