Viral: Salary of 1 lakh, feeling of 30 thousand; Everyone is relating to this pain of Gurugram woman

July 1, 2026 by Uma Shankar

As soon as the last dates of the month come, do you also look at your bank balance and have the same question in your mind that where has the money gone? If yes, then you are not alone. In today’s time, a salary of Rs 1 lakh seems very big, but in front of the inflation in big cities, this amount evaporates like camphor as soon as it comes in hand. these days social media But a female chartered accountant (CA)’s post is becoming increasingly viral, in which he has revealed such a raw account of the pocket of a person earning Rs 1 lakh, seeing which every working person is saying – this is my story only. Let us know how the salary of Rs 1 lakh has become just a name in today’s times.

Gurugram resident CA Muskaan Mittal told on Instagram that today the value of Rs 1 lakh has actually become like Rs 30,000. This is not because people are showing off unnecessarily, but because even basic needs have become extremely expensive. According to the estimated monthly budget of Rs 1 lakh given by him, people spend Rs 25,000 on house rent, Rs 10,000 on ration and food, Rs 5,000 on commuting, Rs 3,000 on electricity, Wi-Fi and mobile bills. Rs 5,000 have been kept for shopping and personal care, Rs 5,000 for outings and restaurants, Rs 7,000 for medical and insurance and Rs 5,000 for other expenses other than family support. Also keep aside Rs 20,000 in SIP for future and Rs 15,000 for emergency fund. In this way the total expenditure comes to Rs 1,00,000.

The battle between saving and spending

Muskaan says that if you, like a sensible person, make investments like SIP and emergency fund to secure your future, then at the end of the month you will not have even a single rupee left in your hand to spend extra. That means the entire salary of Rs 1 lakh is distributed among the respective places even before it arrives. He said, making a budget does not at all mean that you become stingy or kill all your happiness. The real objective is that you can secure your tomorrow without compromising your today.
