Sundarban of West Bengal, on hearing the name only one picture comes to mind – dense forests, salt water rivers and their real king, the Royal Bengal Tiger. This place is not just a forest, it is the tigers’ own palace, where they rule with full majesty and pomp and now a video of this royal splendor is creating a stir on social media. A moment that feels as if time has stopped there.
What happened was that a tiger was sitting very comfortably amidst the dense green bushes, right in front of the river. It is raining lightly outside. Usually we think that animals hide in the rain to avoid getting wet, but this gentleman is in a different mood. He is not avoiding getting wet, but is enjoying the rain. A strange calmness on the face and the same royal attitude in the eyes.
Why is this picture and video special?
Wildlife photographer Arnab Roy has captured this entire magical moment in his camera. And to be honest, seeing the photo takes my breath away. It seems as if the tiger is posing looking at the camera. It would not be wrong if Sundarban is called the home of Tiger, and Arnab has shown the king of this house in his true royal style. Looking at this picture it becomes clear that this is not just the magic of an expensive camera. Behind this is the right timing, perfect setting and deep understanding of the forest.
If you look carefully at this photo, two things will attract you the most. The first is the eyes of the tiger. Deep, intoxicating and downright predatory. On one side there is fear in those eyes and on the other side there is a strange innocence. And the second thing is rain drops. The small droplets stuck in the air, stuck on the tiger’s mustache and his face are making this entire moment even more beautiful and real. It seems as if nature itself is doing a photoshoot of this king.
Nowadays, in the era of Photoshop, people often doubt such pictures. But Arnab did a very smart thing. He not only posted the photo, but also shared a small video of that moment. In that video, it is clearly visible how the tiger is sitting peacefully in the rain, sometimes looking here and there. Anyone watching the video can say that this moment is absolutely real, without any adulteration.
While sharing this video on his Instagram handle @arnab_roy_wildlife, Arnab Roy wrote in the caption – “A memorable moment in Sunderbans.” Just what then. This line and this video touched people’s hearts. Let us tell you that one has to wait for hours in the forest to get a glimpse, and then when one gets that one second’s chance, clicking everything perfectly in it is the real art. Arnab has done the same. The light, the focus, the blurry river in the background and the tiger sitting in the bushes in front, everything looks like a scene from a cinema.
