Viral: New example of inflation in IT city, now even ironing clothes is an expensive deal.

May 28, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Bengaluru is considered to be the most modern and technology-rich city of the country. Here big IT companies, luxurious offices and better career opportunities attract people. But the truth behind the shine of this city is inflation. It is very expensive to live here. Be it house rent, everyday items or small household services, people have to spend a good amount of money for everything. Now discussion has started among people even about common work like ironing clothes.

Recently, a person who moved to Bengaluru raised this issue on social media platform X. His name is Sajit Pai. He told in his post that the cost of ironing clothes in Bengaluru shocked him. He said that the cost of ironing clothes in the city is much higher than expected, especially when compared to a city like Noida.

How expensive is it to get ironing done?

Sajit told in his post that in Noida he had to pay around Rs 5 to get a cloth pressed. After coming to Bengaluru, the same price more than doubled in many places. According to him, Rs 12 to 20 are being charged for ironing a cloth in Indiranagar area. He wrote humorously that he already knew that Bengaluru is an expensive city, but he did not expect that there would be so much difference in getting the clothes pressed.

He also said that he wants to know from the people of other areas of the city what are the rates for ironing clothes there. After his post many people shared their experiences. Some people agreed that the prices of household services have increased rapidly in Bengaluru, while others said that the prices vary greatly in different areas.

Sajit Pai said another interesting thing in his post. He believes that LPG-powered presses could also be a reason behind the increased prices of ironing in Bengaluru. He told that even today in Noida and many parts of North India, coal based presses are used more, due to which the expenses remain slightly less. Whereas gas based presses are seen more in Bengaluru. He said that the cost of LPG is ultimately recovered from the customers. However, people had different opinions on this.
