
Vijay’s new team is ready in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expanded the cabinet on Thursday. Today 23 MLAs have taken oath as ministers. Among these, 21 MLAs from Vijay’s party TVK and 2 from Congress have become ministers in the government. His two important allies IUML and VCK are currently not a part of this cabinet expansion.
These two parties with two MLAs each are very important for the Vijay government. Sources said that both IUML and VCK have been given one seat each in the cabinet but they have not yet decided the names of their ministers. According to sources, both these allies will be included in the government later.
Vijay took oath as CM on May 10
Thalapathy Vijay took oath as CM on May 10 after the results of the assembly elections were declared. He became the ninth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Along with him, nine MLAs also took oath as ministers. There may be around 36 ministers in his cabinet. With the induction of 23 new ministers on Thursday, the number of ministers in the Vijay government has increased to 33. There are still 3 posts left vacant.

Congress joins government after 59 years
The Vijay-led government also includes two Congress MLAs, Rajesh Kumar and Thiru P. Vishwanathan. This is the first time in almost 59 years that Congress is becoming a part of the government in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, the Congress government was run under the leadership of the then Chief Minister M. Bhaktavatsalam, whose tenure ended in March 1967. The party had to face defeat at the hands of DMK in the 1967 assembly elections. From then till now Congress was not a part of any government in Tamil Nadu.

144 votes were cast in support of Vijay in the floor test.
On May 13, the TVK government of Tamil Nadu also passed the floor test in the Assembly. 144 votes were cast in support of Vijay, while only 22 were cast in opposition. Five MLAs remained absent during voting. DMK boycotted the trust vote. Actor Vijay’s party TVK had emerged as the largest party in Tamil Nadu. TVK got 108 seats.
Apart from this, DMK got 59 seats, ADMK got 47 seats. At the same time, Congress got 5 seats. After the support of allies, Vijay had the support of 121 MLAs. 118 seats are required for majority. Actor-turned-politician Vijay had formed the party two years ago.
