Nissanka and Mendis’ tremendous batting in the first ODI

West Indies got the target of scoring 304 runs in 50 overs. But after batting, Sri Lanka wreaked such havoc in bowling that it became difficult for West Indies to hit the target. The most successful batsman from West Indies was its captain Shay Hope, who scored 56 runs. Apart from him, no other batsman could score a half-century. Chasing the total of 304 runs, the West Indies team could not even play 50 overs and were all out after scoring 262 runs in 49.2 overs.

Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera alone dismissed 4 batsmen. He took 4 wickets for 67 runs in 10 overs. Mahish Teekshana took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 10 overs. The second ODI between Sri Lanka and West Indies will now be played on June 7.
