In the second ODI match against Afghanistan, Team India captain Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan scored brilliant centuries but both these players could not reach double centuries. Kishan told that he could have scored a double century but because of Shubman Gill he could not do so. BCCI’s video is going viral on social media in which Ishan Kishan is telling how Shubman Gill’s challenge of 6 sixes in 6 balls reduced his 70 runs. Ishan Kishan said this in a joking manner but one thing is clear that this player definitely wanted to score a double century.
Why did Ishan Kishan miss a double century?
Ishaan Kishan Played an inning of 125 runs against Afghanistan and while hitting a long six, he got caught by Ikram Alikhil on the ball of Kharote. Ishan Kishan had hit two sixes in two balls before getting out and he was caught while trying to hit the third six. Ishan Kishan told that his plan was very simple. He wanted to partner with Shubman Gill while playing normal cricket. Ishan Kishan told, ‘Shubman Gill wanted me to just keep batting because the pitch was good for the batsmen. And we knew that we could attack the bowlers whenever we wanted. The plan was simple to keep hitting good shots.
‘Why didn’t you give me a strike?’
Shubman Gill asked Ishan Kishan in the video why he was not given strike for 5-6 overs, was this the plan. On this Ishan Kishan said, ‘It was not my plan not to give you strike. I wanted to play big shots against the spinners. Kishan further said, ‘Your leader also has a big role in a good innings. On some occasions, I wanted to score runs by batting fast but Shubman Gill told me that there was still a lot of time and he could take full time. Gill knows how to score big runs. Therefore, I benefited from his stay. Ishaan further taunted Shubman Gill and said, ‘In order to get me to hit 6 sixes, my 70 runs were reduced.’
Ishaan-Gil blast
Ishan Kishan and Shubhman Gill are very good friends even outside the field and inside the field, these two friends created a huge ruckus on the Afghanistan bowlers. Together, these two players made a partnership of 224 runs in 141 balls for the third wicket. On this basis, Team India scored 402 runs. This innings was very special for Ishan Kishan because this is his first century after his comeback in the ODI team. He was out of the ODI team for a long time. But now like in T20 format, this player has now shown his strength in ODI also.
